The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver is the high-performance tool watch of the Royal Oak family. While it retains the iconic octagonal bezel and hexagonal screws of the original 1972 design, it is engineered to meet the strict ISO 6425 standards for professional diving, offering 300 meters of water resistance.
In the UAE, the Offshore Diver is highly favored for its “virile” and rugged aesthetic, making it a popular choice for active lifestyles in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
1. Internal Rotating Bezel
Unlike most dive watches that use an external bezel, the Offshore Diver features an inner rotating scale (on the dial’s flange). This protects the diving scale from shocks and debris. It is operated by a second screw-locked crown located at the 10 o’clock position.
2. “Méga Tapisserie” Dial
The dial features the largest version of AP’s signature pattern, the Méga Tapisserie. The chunky square texture provides a bold backdrop for the oversized, luminescent white gold hands and markers, ensuring maximum legibility in the murky depths of the ocean or at night.
3. The Interchangeable Strap System
The latest generation (Ref. 15720ST) introduced a quick-release system. This allows the wearer to swap between the standard high-performance rubber strap and a leather or metal option in seconds without using tools. In the UAE, these often come with an additional strap in a contrasting color (e.g., a Navy Blue watch with an extra Black strap).
4. Calibre 4308 Movement
Visible through a sapphire crystal caseback, this in-house automatic movement features a blackened 22k pink gold oscillating weight. It provides 60 hours of power reserve and an “instant-jump” date indication.
